About
New England has always been my home. I was self taught for the first 18 years of my life in Central Massachusetts, but later I received my Bachelors in Music from The University of Rhode Island. There I studied jazz bass with Dave Zinno, and Tuba with Gary Buttery.
Through my undergrad, I freelanced between the cities of Boston and Providence. After a year-long stint playing on cruise lines, I decided to move back home to re-establish myself as a Boston based musician.
I’d consider myself a man of many hats. But music isn’t just one of them. Depending on the musical situation, I have a CLOSET of musical hats to choose from. In some situations, it’s the oom-pah of trad jazz tuba. In others, it’s James Jamerson style electric bass.. Sometimes it’s singing melodies from the Great American Songbook. But the hat I’m most comfortable wearing is creating new music with my contemporaries, usually on my main voice, the double bass.
My goal is to make a positive impact on the world by living a creative life. Normally, it would be performing as often as possible. But since the start of the pandemic, musicians haven’t been able to work, scarcely if at all when weather permits. Most of my time now is used recording, teaching online, writing, and rehearsing. In other words, continuing my musical journey by preparing for the day live music comes back.
